A recent article in NACUBO’s Business Officer, highlights some strategies being used on campuses across the country to address and reduce deferred maintenance. The article cites our 2015 State of Facilities report and offers great input from NACUBO and APPA leadership as well as executive-level facilities and finance personnel. The strategies discussed include centralizing operations, establishing design standards and understanding space utilization on campus. Additionally, the article outlines some opportunities for facilities and finance leaders to find funding for facilities projects and ways to start the conversation on campus.
Sightlines members the University of Missouri System and the University of Vermont are among the institutions which offered insight into their current strategies.
